About Me

Human anatomy, movement, and healing have always interested me. It started during my youth as an obsession with playing sports and on the sidelines where I could be found taping sprained ankles and bandaging the blisters of my teammates. Over time, my education came to reflect these interests and ‘the foundation’ of my work was born: I obtained a degree in Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology from the University of British Columbia in 1996 and a Diploma of Massage Therapy from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1997.

Being a Registered Massage Therapist exposed me to a whole new world of manual healing therapies. I was directed into my current practice of craniosacral therapy and visceral manipulation by some wonderful mentors several years ago. I was intrigued by the effectiveness of these techniques on my own injuries and I felt compelled to learn more about them.

Since then, I have completed numerous courses offered by the Upledger Institute in cranio-sacral therapy and visceral manipulation and have developed a practice that primarily utilizes these techniques. In essence, this enables me to work with restrictions in the connective tissue that surround or is invested in the brain, spinal cord, nerves, organs, blood vessels, and muscles...really, any connective tissue in the body.

The impact of connective tissue restrictions on the health of the body can be mild and irritating or impactful and overwhelming. Ultimately, by taking the stress of mechanical restrictions away from the body, my intention is that the function of the body systems improves and the body can heal itself.

By "listening" carefully to the body (using specialized assessment techniques) and effectively applying supportive techniques, remarkable things can happen. The body can be begin to heal itself.

Sincerely,
